Only home page works after migration to new host

Hi all,
I just moved virtuemart store to a new server, imported the database and updated the configuration.php file but only the home page of the website is appearing. Once I click any link on the home page I get an error page.

Have you transferred the file .htaccess?

Also, by any chance, are/were you using the variable $live_site in the file configuration.php?

I was not using htaccess but i renamed a copy of it that was there as .htaccess and now most of the links and images are working but not all of them.

Also, i was not and still am not using for the variable live site.

Hope you have renamed the Joomla! supplied file htaccess.txt as .htaccess

Yes I did use the joomla supplied htaccess file. it looms lime the links are ok but not the images for some reason. For instance, this page is missing most product photos and so are the linked product detail pages.

Since you are using VirtueMart, you may have to change the settings in the VirtueMart configuration as well.

Hello,

I have exactly the same problem..
Only front page loads... on the admin site I also have problems.

I tried with akeeba and just a manual moving. (same results)

the $LiveSite variable is empty

the htaccess file.. must be transferred or not?
the original site does not have htaccess file

Problem solved!

It was the htaccess file..

my hosting provider (Dreamhost) created the file for me and now all is working fine!

Okay having the same issue. I just duplicated a site and moved to a new directory with a new domain. The original site's links all work fine. Now only the home page link works. I have set the live site info in the config to the correct directory and have Rewrite and SEF links set to yes. Htaccess is .htaccess and the same as the original working copy. Not using Joomla much and not sure what is causing this.
