Cannot choose username anymore before install?

I want to create a simple new website. I chose Joomla 2.5 version, but encounter too many problems, so I come back to version 1.5 which I know. I just wanted to install, but the installer doesn't let me choose my user name. There's a default user name and it is greyed out. Is that normal?

Yes in 1.5 the default username is hardcoded to admin. One of the many wonderful things resolved in the current releases of joomla

Not anymore! If you install 1.5.26 you get a random user name you can't change (greyed out!). But my problem after now 6 installs and uninstalls with version 1.5.26 is, that I'm unable to login after install, as unebievable as it sounds! You might have a look at another thread I opened in Joomla 1.5. Install, here:

No that is NOT in the joomla installation script. This must be an installation script provided by your hosting provider.There is NO option in the Joomla 1.5 installation script to chose a username

Yes, that is right. How can I install it the "Joomla" way? No need to tell me, I just watched a presentation on [youtube]: pretty Difficult for me. The installer for Joomla in the cpanel from my hosting provider is very easy, but hit a snag today. I will contact my hosting provider.
