SMTP error with new hosting

Post by crystalmm28 » Wed Jun 26, 2013 12:53 am

Hello:

We've tried very combination, and no luck. Yahoo wants us to use.....

• Server - smtp.bizmail.yahoo.com
• Port - 465 or 587
• Security SSL
• Authentication - Username and Password
• Username - Your Yahoo! Business Mail address
• Password - Your Yahoo! Business Mail password

And we have done this, but still get the error •SMTP Error! Could not connect to SMTP host. We update the files, phpmailer.php and smtp.php to Port 465.

And our setting are........
Mailer: SMTP Server
Sendmail Path usr/sbin/sendmail
SMTP Authentication Yes
SMTP Security SSL
SMTP Port 465
SMTP Username Yahoo! Business Mail address
SMTP Password Yahoo! Business Mail address
SMTP Host smtp.bizmail.yahoo.com

We never used Yahoo before. What are we missing :(

well obviously you didn't post sensitive info on the forum.

But did you make sure to properly put the username and password?

More specifically the username?

That would be my best guess on a simple mistake.

Yes, I even copy and pasted from the login screen on yahoo?

Can you help with what info I should edit on the php files. I updated the port...and changed 'localhost'?

I would call your host and tell them it's an issue on their end. But generally the index.php file is where you need to make sure the info matches

Thank you. I already tried and Yahoo doesn't provide any help, especially with Joomla. Yahoo isn't the best hosting company (chosen by the site owner).

Thanks for replying. It's wonderful to have people like you on this forum!!

Well I will try to help you figure this out.

I would tell the client I don't support products that aren't mine. And I especially don't support products if the company they come from does not support it.

I would say it's an issue with their server which I don't have proper access to.

Or possible yell until I get a supervisor who can fix it. haha.

Still if everything is set up properly you can say it's them not you until proven otherwise.
