Moving a live site to local problems

Hi All

I`m trying to get my old 1.5 online site back locally so I can upgrade it to 2.5 and then put it back online. I`ve taken a backup of the remote site with akeeba and exported the sql databases.

Then locally setup xampp and got it all running with joomla 1.5. Then I imported the sql databases and copied the files from the akeeba backup over the local files
which are in .. my D:\xampp\htdocs\joomla15

now i`ve got the front page of the site up and it looks fine, but if I click on any of the links to subpages they dont appear ie object not found screen.
Theyre pointing to
http://localhost/joomla15/by-camera-typ ... -menu.html
but the links dont exist as theyd normally be pointing to here...
http://www.cambags.com/by-camera-type/c ... -menu.html

Also, I can no longer get onto the administator side in localhost.
ie http://localhost/joomla15/administrator/
It just goes back to the main webpage.

Any ideas what i`m doing wrong. Sorry its been a long time since I tinkered with joomla and am lost.

Ignoring the fact that you didnt need to do the database step because akeeba does it for you. Your problem is that you have SEF friendly urls enabled in the global configurtion but you dont have the required .htaccess file on your localhost or it is configured for your live server not localhost.

ah yes, i`d deleted the .htaccess file for some reason. Copied it back and it started working fine.

Actually, realised i still cant get onto the administration side of joomla on localhost. It just jumps back to the main frontend of the site.

ie http://localhost/joomla15/administrator/
goes to http://localhost/joomla15/

i`ve checked that directory and theres all the files in their ie index.php ,etc

Apologies, fixed, forgot jsecure plugin was active and required my login in the http address.
