Any way to have joomla users comment without disqus account

Post by jhellein » Tue Dec 01, 2009 5:00 pm

I like the disqus commenting system but need a way to have my registered users be able to comment as themselves (not a s a guest) without the additional step of registering at disqu. Is there a plugin that allows my sites registered users to use the commenting system in this way?

There is no way to accomplish this at this point.

I was wondering the same thing and thought it was possible using the JoomlaWorks Disqus Plugin (http://www.joomlaworks.gr/content/view/32/42/).

I'm curious as to whether either of you have used Disqus or Intense Debate on an ecommerce product catalog? I am currently testing it and interested in any feedback.

We use Disqus on our blog. It does not allow Joomla registered users to comment. Disqus is actually a free service based commenting system. All data is stored on the Disqus servers, not within your Joomla site.

The JoomlaWorks Disqus Plugin (http://www.joomlaworks.gr/content/view/32/42/) still just uses the Disqus servers to store the comments. The plugin just give you an easy way of adding the service to your site.

Yes, it's just that you will lose people when you force them to sign up twice for something: they have to register at my site (using amember) to get access to content; this wld force them to have to register with disqus when they had already registered for my site. Disqus needs a plugin that will automatically create a disqus account from information from joomla login and then automatically signs them into disqus when they log in to joomla.

Yes that would be nice but nothing is available that would accomplish this right now. Since we started using Disqus (instead of JomComment) we've started receiving more comments on our blog since most people are already registered for a Facebook, Twitter or Yahoo account anyways.
