Disqus Integration

Post by ayushpant » Sat Jun 21, 2008 7:53 am

Disqus is an interesting "comment" tool catching up.

It would be nice to integrate Disqus comments with Joomla. With Wordpress etc, its easy. I know that some people have successfully integrated Disqus with Joomla as well.

I am wondering how would this be done. Anyone?

Hi! I downloaded the plugin and I have a question and a point to your todo list :)

1. Why some articles have the comments and some not?

2. :( "View comments" is harcoded, so if we want to translate we must do that changing the php file. Not difficult, but I think you should add that line as a parameter.

I'm using Joomla 1.5

Hi fotisevangelou,

I have been monitoring the Joomla 1.7 version of this plugin. Are you going to release soon?

Regards,

Sorry for bumping such an old thread, but I have a client who wanted to integrate a 3rd party commenting tool and is running 1.7. We were thinking of Disqus or Livefyre... But if this works still, Disqus would be a better option obviously.

Does anyone know if this still works with the current version of Disqus?

Joomla 1.6+1.7 were short term support versions and are no longer supported.
Joomla 2.5 is the Long Term Support (LTS) version in the same series.

Please upgrade always to the latest Joomla version within the same series first before trying to solve errors with an older version. Possible bugs might have been solved in the meantime, and it's a waste of time trying to solve issues that are caused because of non-updated software...

The latest version in the 2.5 series is Joomla 2.5.9: http://www.joomla.org/download.html

Gotcha, thanks pe7er. They were hesitant to upgrade as they didn't want to have to re-code any modifications they made. So we'll see what we can do about getting them to change their mind on that :)
