Newbie - Help setting up new email address

Help! I am new to Joomla! taking over a web project. I am being asked to create a new email address with the domain extension. I am not family with navigating Joomla! screens, or where to find the list of emails that are already established. Please respond from a beginners prospective with baby steps to accomplishing this. :-[ Thanks
