Migration to 1.5 - will Fireboard come too?

Joomla version 1.5 is end-of-life and are no longer supported. Please use Joomla 3.x instead.

Migration to 1.5 - will Fireboard come too?

Post by royc2 » Mon Nov 18, 2013 12:56 pm

We are about to migrate from our ancient Joomla 1.0 to 1.5. The core of our website is a discussion forum, which is on the now-obsolete Fireboard. When we migrate Joomla, will the Fireboard installation come too, i.e. can we make it come too?

As I understand it, we need to get both into 1.5, then replace Fireboard with Kunena - is this the correct routemap? And last, what version of Kunena should we be looking at, assuming we can get onto J1.5.26?

Many thanks in advance for any wise words,

Roy

I have not had to do this but here are my suggestions;
first migrate Fireboard to the last Kunena version for Joomla 1.0, Kunena 1.0.11;
http://www.kunena.org/docs/Migration_from_FireBoard

you can find this on JoomlaCode if you are logged in;
http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/kunena ... ge_id=4341

next you need to migrate to Joomla 1.5 and then you may need to migrate your Forum if it didn't migrate with Joomla. Once in Joomla 1.5 you can upgrade Kunena to version 1.7.2 as that is compatible with Joomla 1.5 and 2.5 then migrate to Joomla 2.5.

You will find that templates for both Kunena and Joomla will need to be updated as you go from Joomla 1.0 to 1.5 to 2.5 the Kunena template will need updating as well.

Be sure to back up your site files and database before any live changes. I would also strongly recommend doing any upgrading/migrating on a local copy of your site first. Then copy the working local copy to your live Host.

Back to my first step; I did find a source for an ETL Plugin for migrating Fireboard with your Joomla 1.5 migration. This may be simpler, once in Joomla 1.5 you can do the migration to Kunena and then upgrade Kunena to version 1.7.2 before migrating Joomla to 2.5.

Again do this on a local server first rather then your live site.

Looks like you need to register first before you can download.
