Content not showing after moving on other server

Post by claviculanox » Thu May 01, 2014 8:31 pm

Hello,

I moved a joomla 1.5 site from one server to another via FTP and then import DB.
Everything is displayed fine, except when I click on menus and submenus, do not display content articles.
The only button that works and displays correct from the menu is contact button which is "underneath" DF contact component.
Admin page works correctly.

Does anyone know how i can fix this problem?
Thanks in advance!

Perhaps the site has cache enabled, and the cache was not deleted?

Try deleting the contents of the /cache/ folder.

When you say...

...what does it do, instead?

Is it possible the .htaccess file was not moved along with the rest of the site?

Its showing the home page exactly as it should be, with all the modules placed in their places, with the menus and submenus as it should be, except that is missing the mainpage content (the area where the articles should be displayed)
Also, when i click on a menu, submenu, on a link from one of the modules, it doesn't show me the article content. There is no error, only i cant see the article content, its missing that area.

Crazy question, could it be a style/background issue? Could the text be there, but invisible because of a white-on-white situation? Ctrl-A would reveal this. I know, unlikely.

Another question... have you verified the content is still in its appropriate articles, via Article Manager?

If neither of those reveal anything useful, please go to pastebin.com and paste your main template page's source code (you can get this via the Details section of Template Manager) and another pastebin of your actual source (via View Source in your browser as you are browsing your own site)... maybe two of those, one on a page with no apparent problems, another on a page with missing content. I just want to verify with these that your template didn't suddenly have its content call go missing, and then see what's being output to it.

It's a lot of things to check, but go through it step by step until you find something interesting and let me know ... or same for any other useful details you discover or remember along the way.

Oh, and you should probably use the Forum Post Assistant at this point.

Good luck.

I just thought of something else: check in /templates/<your template's name>/html/com_content and see if the files here were corrupted. It's completely normal for your template not to have the html/ subfolder tree, or for it to be there but not to have a com_content/ folder... but if it's there and it was corrupted during host migration, this could cause the content area to be broken here but not there.

Hey there, Nathan...
Thnx for ur support!
Finally I got in touch with people at the server and resolved.
They told me that the version of PHP on the server was too new for the functions i use for my website and they put an older version of PHP.
Now i see the content:)
Thnx a lot!
TC!

That's good for the short term, but, lest nobody tell you...

That's terrible news! You will be hacked someday, perhaps so badly that it damages every customer on that server.

But seriously, I'm glad your migration has been successful.

But seriously, it's terrible that your host is so apathetic about security that they'll do this for just anybody. Nobody should be using platforms based on technology that old unless they have the IT budget to keep things security-updated themselves.
