Joomla 1.5.25 to Joomla 1.5.26

Post by gcopping » Mon Jan 18, 2016 7:08 pm

I have tried to follow the instructions as per this link:

https://docs.joomla.org/Upgrading_1.5_f ... 5x_version

I have created a test area to do this on the server, copied the site to it and applied the stable patch package using FTP. The web site appears to work fine but when I try and go to the Administrator login page I just get a blank page.

Does anybody have any ideas what could be causing this?

If you have just follow-up the patch http://joomlacode.org/gf/download/frsre ... ackage.zip
Then it should work.

I have discovered the following error message when trying to access the Admin backend of my upgraded site:

Warning: require_once(/home/baildoni/public_html/newjoom2/administrator/templates/system/html/modules.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/baildoni/public_html/newjoom2/libraries/joomla/application/module/helper.php on line 183

Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required '/home/baildoni/public_html/newjoom2/administrator/templates/system/html/modules.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/baildoni/public_html/newjoom2/libraries/joomla/application/module/helper.php on line 183

I have checked the package for upgrading from 1.5.25 to 1.5.26 and there are no files for administrator/templates/system/html/modules.php in this package

Does anyone know how I resolve this?

Get the 1.5.26 Full Package
Unzip it to your computer
Delete Installation Folder
Delete Templates Folder
Upload to the site and overwrite all files

First of all you need to download this entire J 1.5.26 package:http://joomlacode.org/gf/download/frsre ... ackage.zip

Extract locally (remove the fodlers as mentioned by Per and upload with FTP in Binary mode ) and overwrite all files and folders, login and go to the extension manager and click the database fix. This should resolve this

OK so do I do this over a copy of the existing site, and will it keep all of my existing site files?

No you cannot do that. I did misread and you should use the J 1.5.26 package and overwrite all Joomla core files. After that you can upgrade straight to Joomla 3.4.8 with Spupgrade from J.1.5.26

OK thanks for the clarification. But again can I overwrite the existing site files on a copy of the site, and it will retain all of the existing site files?
