Administration Login Fails

My life is a sea of inscrutable mysteries.

Yesterday, the Joomla! Administration Login form worked just fine.

Today, absolutely nothing happens. I enter my Username and Password, click Login, and the page just reloads.

No error, no indication of anything. Just a page reload.

I tried the process at <https://docs.joomla.org/How_do_you_reco ... assword%3F> but it had no effect. Same thing: the Joomla! Administration Login page simply reloads.

Any thoughts/suggestions/ideas would be most appreciated.

Perhaps your webhosting provider changed the version of PHP and J! 1.5 won't work with the changed version?

Perhaps your website has been hacked (it wouldn't surprise me as you're talking about software that was retired from use over six years ago and J! 1.5 websites around the world are being targeted, exploited and failing around the world)?

I don't know why, specifically, you're unable to login to your site but the [iForum Post Assistant[/i] report may give some indications as to the likely cause. Something for you to consider.

Forum Post Assistant Output follows. The only issue I see is "PHP SUPPORTS J! 1.5.26 = NO". But I haven't had any issues prior to the sudden inability to log in.

Thanks for the FPA report.

AFAIK, J! 1.5 will run on PHP 5.6.36; the indicator—PHP Supports J! 1.5.26: No—may be false. I can't say for certain what is the problem because

a) I don't have any J! 1.5 websites;
b) I don't run J! on Nooku; and
c) I would never use vulnerable/exploitable software like ExtMan on any website I operated.

Perhaps someone else has a better idea?

If this was my website I wouldn't be waiting for answers from a forum about how to "fix" a problem with software that most people have stopped using years ago. I would be migrating my website to the current, stable release of Joomla (even if it takes you a few days to do this). It depends on how important this website is to you and whether you want to keep it in the state that it's currently in, doesn't it? Good luck.
