Media Manager upload error

Post by stussy » Tue Apr 01, 2008 8:40 am

Hi

I am not able to upload any image into a folder created with the media manager. The error message is:

WARNFS_ERR02
Error. Unable to upload file

Some details:
- Joomla 1.5.1
- Shared Hosting Linux Server with Apache and PHP 5.1.2 with safe_mode on
- tmp, images and images/stories are 777
- Upload limit is 10mb
- FTP is disabled

.htaccess is modified to get rid of 406 errors (solution from http://joomlatipps.com/Media-Uploadfehl ... 5-406.html):

Code: Select all

[...]
<IfModule mod_security.c>
SecFilterEngine Off
SecFilterScanPOST Off
</IfModule>
It IS possible to upload files to images and images/stories. But as soon as I create a folder 'pdf' with the media manager it's impossible to upload files into this folder. The files are smaller than the upload limit.

folder: /images/stories/pdf
owner: apache
permissions: 755

What could be the problem? Thanks for your help.

Cheers
stussy

I had a similar problem, I was able to modify also the directory to 777, but whenevere I load an image, it loads it without right permissions (i.e no read permissions for the file) hence the image can't be read.

help please!

(note: using joomla! ver 1.5)

Hi,

Same thing with Joomla 1.5.2 and disabled Flash Uploader. I've just found another thread where users have the same problem:

Try switching flash uploader off.

Go to Global Configuration - System Tab - Media Settings (bottom left) and select no radio button.

Please feedback outcome

Thanks for your reply. I've done that already, as mentioned in my previous post. No success.

I was having this problem and thought it was because I hadn't been able to get the ftp settings set right. But after working with tech support (http://www.simplyhosting.net/ has wonderful tech support!), it is now working. But I still couldn't upload media until I turned off "enable flash uploader". Thanks, Andy!

I am having upload isssues with files over 2 megs. I am getting the same error.

* JFile::read: Unable to open file: ''
* Warning - Failed to move file!
* Error. Unable to upload file.

I am on a Windows server. Someone suggested setting the PHP.ini file to 16megs, which is was set to a 2 meg limit. I restarted the server and I still have the issue.

Flash uploader is turned off, and FTP is disabled. The FTP setting had no bearing on whether this worked or not.

I checked my PHP settings in system info tab in the administrator. It read the upload limit was 2megs. I remote desktopped into the GoDaddy windows server and went into windows explorer and found "C:\Program Files\Parallels\Plesk\Additional\PleskPHP5". My PHP.ini file was in there. I changed the size. Logged out and back into the Joomla admin and the limit was raised and solved my issue.

I hope this helps someone else.

Had the same problem. Went to Global Config > System and changed restrict uploads to No and it worked.

Had to re-enter FTP login details (why does joomla lose these often??!) also flash uploader was set to No. Also be aware of permitted file types which are also set here.

Hope this helps.
John
