I Want to block a Skype Browser Plugin on my site

Hi,

My client complains that the Skype settings confuses them on a couple of pages on their site. On the site, their bank account number shows as a phone number, the country codes is wrong, etc, etc.

After I tried various ways to explain that it's settings on her computer and browser, she still insist that I remove the Skype settings. :-\

Now is my question:
Is there a way to block the Skype functions/plugins on my website?

If it is an added extension can you not just un-publish it. Extensions> Plugin Manager

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately this isn't a Joomla extension/plugin.

If a person got Skype installed on their personal browser, they have the option to install a Skype add-on. This add-on change the static text (phone numbers) to links. When clicking on that link, the person dials the number using Skype.

I want to block this function, no matter whether the user got Skype installed in their browser or not.

Ah. I see your problem now. I have no idea how to solve it though!

This extensions blocks the ability to highlight text: http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... tion/12837
Perhaps it might stop the links going active. You could play around with it.

I think I solved it.

In the html code, where the number is, I insert a little piece of code there.
<span style="display:none;">%</span>

Where the number were 012-3459876, the code looks like this now.
<p style="text-align: left;">012-345<span style="display:none;">%</span>9876</p>

Logic tells me that Skype cannot recognize it any more as a phone number. What do you think?

P.S. abernyte - I love your sig...

It's also a setting in Skype.. up to the user to decide if they want this feature or not - nothing to do with Joomla!

Good fix. Does it cause any other unwanted issues?

Many have tried swatting the screen for that one!

I don't know about unwanted issues. I really hope there's none.

My clients are quite happy now. So far we didn't get any issues, it seems to work well.

as i checked it too, no need any code to block skype. If you put - between numbers like this example
''012-3459876'' skype not display. Tested in joomla 3.4.4 with tinymce. Maybe this works in j 1.5, i did nt tested there
