Files and directory permissions to change

Post by theuxgroup » Sat Feb 23, 2008 6:40 am

Hi,

With 755 permissions to directories, our Joomla 1.5 install is not working. We have to either make it 775 or 757.
What could be the problem?

Your host does not have PHPsuExec installed or running is running PHP as an apache module, which forces you to have to set insecure or elevated permissions.

Please review the following FAQ's ASAP, you will find a wealth of information related to your questions.

Hi RussW,

Thanks a lot for pointing out the problem. PHP was running as CGI, but suphp was not compiled in with Apache. Got apache recompiled and used suphp as php5 handler, and things are back to normal now! Thanks again for your timely help, which definitely saved our time.

If you could edit your original post and mark it as SOLVED (with the green tick) that would be most appreciated and assist others in finding problem resolutions.
