I am only anovice and I have recently had joomla 1.5 installed on site and am trying to implement strict security features as per advisory as the site was recently hacked.

The isp account has a .htaccess which is in the root folder

#deny all
Where the alpha codes represent the unique addresses of my access points

There is also .htaccess in the public_html.
This has 0 records

What and which do I need to change? How do they interlink and work
Is the # a comment
Where can I find out about this. Can anyone recommend literature/book
