my website just got hacked!

Post by shanghei » Sun Aug 17, 2008 8:58 am

Some brazilian group hacked my website. They overwrote the index.php and I didnt have a backup. I am able to log into the administration panel and everything is there. Is there any way to rebuild the index.php without having to do the entire website? I spent alot of time on it along time ago and dont really rememeber all the steps to redoing it step by step. Be great if I could just redo an index file.

thanks!

Replace it with the index.php that is part of the default Joomla install. Make sure you update to 1.5.6 at the same time.

There is obviously an issue with either your Joomla installation/scripts in your webspace, or your hosting server, so you might want to also look into that.

I had the same problem. My site was hacked by turhish hackers. But my password was changed, because i was general admin. But i have jomla 1.0 site in this host too and it was hacked too, but admin pass wasnt changed. The html site was hacked too in this host. All of that 3 sites index.php/html was changed. It was enough to exchange these indexes to the default ones and everything is good agan. But I really dont understand, how they managed to change indexes of all my sites, if they only had changed my 1.5.5 site admin password? Please, who can explain that?

OMG my site is hacked too. I cant gain access to it as the password is incorrect.

What can I do to retrieve it. I have no idea.

I feel such an idiot. What are the best top measures to make sure this doesnt happen again to me?
