upgrade concerns

Post by Impact+44 » Sun Dec 01, 2013 3:14 pm

I will apologize in advance if my question is not appropriate. I have been using Joomla 1.5 for 4 or more years and have been pleased with its performance. We have a highly customized website. We have been hacked numerous times and have changed hosting services several times believing the problem was with our hosting service. Subsequently, I have been informed that the problem lies with coding that Joomla 1.5 requires. I have two options: upgrade to Joomla 2.5 (our e-commerce software is VirtueMart which apparently is not available for Joomla 3.+), or rebuild the site using a different CMS.
I contracted to have an analysis performed and was told the following: Joomla 2.5 is "open to exploits", and my security problem will most likely continue if I upgrade.

My question: can anyone comment on the security of Joomla vs the security of an alternative CMS (MURA was recommended.) The cost to upgrade is considerably more than the cost to rebuild. I prefer to continue to work with Joomla providing I can be relatively certain that my security issues will be resolved..., at least to the extent of the security offered by any other CMS.

Good since totally inappropriate. Why posting in a thread that has nothing to do with the issue you are facing? You will get a) not many replies and b) open your own thread so we can properly handle it!
