Joomla for high traffic websites

Post by Shiggigy » Mon Jan 21, 2008 6:55 am

I guess this issue has been brought up a couple of times before, however I would like to know if the stable version of Joomla 1.5 is optimized for high trafficed websites. I've done som heavy researching and comparisons amongst the most famous CMS systems there is, and I must say that Drupal also catched my attention considering performance.

At the bottom line I'd just like to have a robust, high performance and secure CMS system that works fine with 100 or 100 000 unique hits per day.

Is Joomla the right CMS system for me?
Do I need to optimize my MySQL database in some way?

Thanks

Anything is possible...

By that, I mean if you invest some time in tweaking the DB, and with caching solutions (both Joomla core, and 3pd), you can get quite a bit of traffic out of it.  I personally have a 1.0 site capable (has seen before) 5 million pageviews in one day on a single server.  Is it possibly?  Absolutely.  You just need to set it up right...

Hi,

Sorry if this sounds so blond  :-\ ....but how do you go about tweaking the database ?

At least please out line what to tweak, what to consider, how to go through with this, a frame work or general outline.
