SSL Enabled - Now my site won't work!

I hope this is in the correct place....

Basically, I just enabled SSL for the entire site in global config, now my site won't load, and I can't get back into the admin panel to turn it of.

Any ideas how to resolve this?

I am using Joomla! 1.5

Thanks!

It's ok I have resolved this issue myself!

For anyone facing this issue in the future:

Go to your domain.com/cpanel - log in and go to SSL/TLS Manager

Generate a private key
Generate SSL certificate signing request
Generate SSL certificate

(Not sure if you need to do all three but it's what I did to fix it)

You will get a new path to your domain - mine had something like "box secure" in it.

Go to that path and add /administrator to get to your Joomla! admin login panel.

Then turn off SSL - change SSL in global config back to "None" (this setting is in global config>server)

Then your site should work!

Hope this helps someone!

you could also get in to your Cpanel of your site,

use file browser and navigate to the root level of your site structure and find the file configuration.php

in there set

var $force_ssl = '0';

0 meaning forcing it is set to off.

That will let you get back in to the site rather than generating a SSL certificate that is self signing on your domain.

I think it depends on hosting provider. I just contacted my provider company and they configured the static IP + SSL fo my site for a small price. Now everything works. It is sad that Joomla has very limited documentation. It deserves better.

Have you written some documentation for it? If not, I like their documentation better. You can contribute, you know?

Make sure your LIVE SITE in configuration.php
is set to https://www.yourdomain.com not http://www.yourdomain.com

Including the s has fixed my issue as not being able to login administrator.

I just opened up my config.php file and changed the live site url to https and I was able to login to admin.
