site is running very slow is it my web hosting company

Hi, i have a site that gets a lot of traffic but it is running very slow. the site is http://www.in2town.co.uk and i am on a dedicated server.

I am with a managed hosting company called TMD hosting, the ddedicated server i have is

intel Atom 330 1MB L2 Cache 1.6GH
$159/mo $189/month
500GBStorage
4GBRAM
10TBBandwidth

I have been told by another hosting company that does not offer managed hosting that this is not a great dedicated server and is old. Can anyone confirm this for me.

The home page is not to bad when it comes to speed but the rest of the site is slow although the home page can become slow.

I am using k2 and what i am finding is, the content pages are bringing back around 120 requests while the home page is only bringing 62 requests and loads much faster.

Can anyone please advise me on this and what i need to do. I need to know if i should change hosting company and also why the content pages are bringing more request than the home page and why they are slower than the home page.

I am hoping someone can help me solve this issue

Combined all javascripts into 4, 1, mootools, 1, core, 1 being jquery, and the other the rest.

There are many reasons what can make joomla slow. You can check with this check list

- Server/hosting performance: check your hosting if the hardware is good enough for your traffic
- Caching solution: turn on all of caching solution on server
- CDN: use one of good CDN like cloudfront, MaxCDN, cloudFlare and make sure you use the package what cover 100% static files bandwidth
- Browser cache: make sure you optimize htaccess file to cover this part
- Coding optimization: check your code if something take too long time to execute.
