Welcome to Joomla Coding 101!

As a direct result of interest expressed by several people in our community, the Joomla team has responded with eagerness to help novice programmers understand and learn how to contribute to the Joomla project.  To show their support, this forum has been created to begin the process of realizing that vision.

Purpose of the Forum

To help promote and foster a community of beginning and novice programmers (‘joombies’) interested in active participation, with specific focus on the ‘where to start’ of building applications that will enhance and extend the Joomla CMS.

To give a place for peers to come together for the express purpose of exchanging ideas and knowledge while learning the basics of the Joomla framework, as well as training and direction on how to get involved with the development of components / modules / plug-ins for use with Joomla.

What makes this forum different from the developers or 3PD forum?

The Coding 101 forum has been instituted to give a more ‘hands-on’ approach to beginners interested in development by creating an atmosphere of learning through peer tutoring and mentoring.

How do I get involved?

Getting involved is a simple as posting on the forum.  We welcome and encourage peer participation, and are currently in the initial stages of coming up with a coherent and workable framework to facilitate our goal of giving young developers a kick-start as they begin application development for Joomla.

We are, of course, always looking for active participants, and have a great deal of work to do in order to bring the project up to speed.  I am excited at the prospect, and welcome any questions / comments / feedback from the community.

If you're not a part of the solution, you're a part of the problem.
