Trouble with SEF and router.

Hey,

I have a small component under development. Part of my menu uses the Itemid value to change my main menu images.

This works fine while SEF is turned off. When I turn SEF back on again the tabs stop changing. I am guessing that my custom written router.php is not quite what I need it to be. I was wondering if there are any tutorials out there to help with writing a router.

I have tried looking at the weblinks one and that is not overly helpful as it is far too huge.

I can post the code to the router if anybody thinks they may be able to help with it. I think I am just a little confused as to what the router is supposed to be doing and how it is supposed to be doing it.
