Joomla 1.6 smtp settings

Hi,
I have uploaded my site successfully on free domain on 0fees.net , and now from frontend when any one creates a new account , the automatic mail doen't sent and get error named
"joomla SMTP Error! Could not connect to SMTP host.

Friends , I want to configure my mail server with gmail , or anyother mail server which can works,

Kindly help me with giving tutorial , how to configure mail settings, by so mail system can work..
at now I have done settings in global configuration are:

Mail Settings

Mailer *
From email : [email protected]
From Name: Myname
Sendmail Path: /usr/sbin/sendmail
SMTP Authentication: Yes
YesNo
SMTP Security: SSL
SMTP Port * 25
SMTP Username [email protected]
SMTP Password : mygmailpassword
SMTP Host: smtp.gmail.com

but friends above settings are not working , kindly help..me thanks in advance.///
