Joomla Mobile extensions for Joomla 1.0

Hello, I have several websites using Joomla 1.0. Since the days ipads have been devised it's come to my attention that I need to improve my website on the mobile front. I'm not very experienced in this area, so I was looking for a bit of advice. Are there any Joomla extensions or should I change the code myself? Also, would I need to upgrade to a later version of Joomla? I am reluctant to upgrade, in case anything goes wrong.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated?

I can understand that you have been reluctant to migrate because you need the right tool(s) and a bit of expertise, or, alternatively, to hire someone to do that. However, using a very old, vulnerable and unsupported version is a risk.

Unless your sites run very specialised, custom extensions, converting the 1.0 code is not recommended.

You can back up each site and restore them on localhost sites on your workstation, if you want to try the migration yourself. Sometimes it is quicker to find the right template and extensions and start from a clean slate. Nowadays there are several thousands of extensions, both free and payable.

And last but not least, Joomla 3 and responsive tempates is the way to go.
