Can I add individual sections to div tags in the template?

On the home page of my site I have four divs making columns.

At the moment I have entered all the raw html into the tinymce editor. Is there away of adding just certain items/sections/categories to specific divs in the template? So that the text for the columns could be in different articles. There would also be no danger then of someone deleating the invisible HTML for the div tags in the editor.

That would be a template solution I think... have your template figure out the intelligence of spreading your content over multiple columns..

But I see you post in the 1.5 version section... you need to upgrade asap... we are at 3.8.x now leaving all below 3 as End of Life...
