corrupted zip-files after downloading with IE7. FF is ok.

Post by carsten888 » Tue Aug 12, 2008 9:10 am

On my site I offer Joomla-extensions for download in zip-format. Some users report that when downloading with IE7 the zip became corrupt. Downloading with FF works fine.

example http://www.joomlapi.com/pages-and-items/
the bot's downloads fine, the com's become corrupt.

I tried:
- recompressing the zip
- other application for zip
- downloading the file with ftp and checked the file is not corrupt online, it was fine.
- in Firefox all zip's download fine and are not corrupt, so file seems good.
- searched for 2 hours only to find others with this issue, and it's not resolved by far.

http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r176021 ... t~start=20
seems like a bug in IE7.
But not a consistent one, as there are 4 zips on the page, 2 download fine, the other 2 don't. Got the same problem with some other extensions on the same site.

anyone has any suggestions (besides telling people to use Firefox)? I'm totally stuck.
http://www.pages-and-items.com my extensions:
User-Private-Page, Redirect-on-Login, Admin-Help-Pages, Dynamic-Menu-Links, Admin-Menu-Manager, plugin load module in article, plugin pure css tooltip and more...

Hi,

Which version of Joomla! are we talking about? You posted in a wrong forum, i'd like to move it to a correct one ;)

not any particular version of joomla.

I posted this in the coding q and a because it is something other coders must have encountered.

Sounds reasonable... I'll leave it here then.
