In the
Joomla! Beginning Developer Course there is a good set of PHP, MySQL and Object Oriented Programming tutorials.

The site is not running anymore and it links
http://developer.joomla.org/, but I can't see any 'Beginning Developer Course' anymore

Thanks, but what I wanted was the six week course that was on that site. I don't understand why the site has been set offline

i much prefer books for this kind of thing

the last one i read was SAMS Teach Yourself PHP in 24hrs. it was the third edition that deals with php 4.3.
Make sure if you buy a book, get the most up to date version! i was resigned to 4.3 because i couldn't find a newer version in a store anywhere.
