See https://github.com/joomla/joomla-cms/mi ... 7?closed=1
Is there a version anywhere for non masons?? People will need to roll their trouser leg up or something, to understand all that Gibberish, may as well be in a foreign language lol.. I am none the wiser for reading that document, unfortunately...

It's the favicon changing after every update that really grinds my gears, is that really necessary folks??
If you're experiencing this problem, then you are using a core template and modifying it instead of duplicating it so that core updates don't change the files of your customized template. Core updates are going to update all of the core files, including those in a core template. Otherwise, there is nothing in the update packages that magically wipes out your custom favicon.

Yes, you are spot on, I am using a default template on every site, I don't think I have used template manager once to be honest, more than happy with how it is, it seems as though I have to waste time creating a duplicate template, to save wasting time replacing my favicon lol... But you are right in what you say..

I think this thread, sums up what the opening poster is saying, perfectly, two updates, in two days.. Look at the chaos people are having..
