My XAMPP always shutdown
I am having serious challenges in my server. My xamp server always fond of shutting down and this makes me to lose my project work. When this happens, I have to reinstall new and start re-start projects all over again. This has happened to me more than 2 times within 3months.
I thought the problem was peculiar to xamp and have to install wamp and experience the same thing again. This is causing serious nightmare to me and can anyone advice me on how to solve this recurrence shutting down of the localhost server?
Should this happens again, how do i restore my work uninterrupted?

Re: My XAMP always shutdown
Sounds like the problem is with your computer. Is it old? Does it often crash?

It doesn't crash. Everything always remain intact only that the xamp server will just shutdown abruptly

Assuming you are on win 10, type reliability in your task bar search and you should get a graph of app and windows failures.

Re: My XAMPP always shutdown
I later observed when i typed ''localhost'' on the browser, i get the below error message
Unable to connect
An error occurred during a connection to localhost.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

FYI Wampserver is a much better LAMP stack for windows than XAMP.

Re: My XAMPP always shutdown
I don't know much about XAMPP (or WAMP) but my understanding is they are just ways of managing Apache and MySQL. I use a Mac which is set NOT to start Apache on boot. So I use the command line:
sudo apachectl start
The documentation does not cover starting XAMPP on Windows other than as a service (on boot):
https://docs.joomla.org/XAMPP#Test_XAMPP_Installation
https://magazine.joomla.org/all-issues/ ... alling-git
Good luck!
