Hi,

read this --> https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link ... spam-score

So 17% you don't have to worry about even google has a spam score of 11% ;)

Review your backlinks: Identify any spammy or low-quality backlinks to your site and work on getting them removed

Reach out to spammy sites to get them removed. Or you can go through Google and force them to removed/not counted by Google. Good luck :)

What tool are you using to calculate a spam score of 17%? Many of the tools can provide quite different results depending on what links they are using, but it's probably not a worry as Rondeb stated.

17% is a high spam score! there may be things on your site that are making spam signals. spam score cannot be increase because of the back links but also because of low quality content, Meta tags, title tags, headings etc you should focus on improving the user experience, providing engaging content, and make sure your site loading speed is good too. Encourage visitors to stay longer and interact with your site.

A spam score of 17% is moderately high. To lower it:

Improve content quality.
Audit and disavow bad backlinks.
Moderate comments.
Keep software updated.
Enhance security.
Monitor with Google Search Console.
Remove outdated content.
Avoid black hat SEO.
Check for malware

Disavow or remove such links to improve your site's credibility.

Spam score is not like a mark on a stone, Moz only use it to categorize a site and it does not depends only on backlinks. If you've legit traffic on your site, legit means only organic, then it's ok to ignore spam score. Otherwise if you wanna decrease it, then get good organic traffic, enhance UI/UX, get good backlinks, and most importantly post quality content what user is looking for.
