Re: How to increase website traffic ?
Well, thats a broad question !
Start with setting up every on-page SEO factor correctly - beware of over optimization.
This is only after youve done your keyword research- which is probably the most important factor.
Then you can go ahead with linkbuilding - only manual, contextual ones, few Press Releases, guest blogging etc..
Engage you visitors, even if you have only 1 visitor a day, try to build a list, try to make them comment, signup etc..
Good luck !

What keywords are you ranking for? You have to rank for buying keywords and it doesn't sound like you are.

Re: How to increase website traffic ?
Here are a few tips that I use to get content out. (Assuming your content is of high quality)
Use all traditional social media sites as a place to talk about what you are up to and anything related to your site. You don't always want to be spamming out articles, but a well timed and relevant piece can really take hold if you manage to get a few followers.
Submit your article to Digg or find someone with an issue on a popular community site like [red dit] and use your article as an answer. (Obviously it helps if you stay active on these sites and aren't seen as a spammer.)
Start creating some simple How-To videos or other quick segment videos. Be sure to link to the full write up in the video notes and encourage people to comment.
Lastly, reach out to people in the same niche as you and see if they will let you write a guest post for their site. This can be the hardest part, but will ultimately lead to some of the biggest pay-offs. You need to constantly be networking and building relationships.

That's interesting so do they do any SEO at all?!yanhr wrote:As far as i know, sites that gives what people (community) need has more traffic. in other words, write for your readers not google.
I've been observing three samples (okay, i know that's maybe a small number), all of em start publishing in almost the same time.
First is my new blog, which is still new with only 10 articles and daily seo effort (site submit, build link, etc).
(these other two websites are my clients, which i have the access to their analytic page)
Second is a some gadget community on twitter, who asked me to built their blog. Their post mostly are have the same topics with what they've been discussed on their twitter account.
Third is a website with some mining and energy industry news update. What they do is keep writing those news and post it on their website (about 2 - 3 post a day), share it to their fb page and twitter account with no concern at all about the community (readers).
After 3 month, the second blog with a community base have more traffic then the other two.
My blog have the lowest traffic since i only focusing on seo without building the community (social media) and hold those content to be posted.
Well i'm not an expert on seo, maybe someone can correct me if i'm wrong?

Just to add to this, make sure that when you do build links that you also build links on no-follow sites. If all links posted are through do-follow sites Google starts to think that it is spammy and starts penalising.
I've found that 60% no follow and 40% follow and good weight.

Re: How to increase website traffic ?
Yes, I'd agree with that. I'm a producer at a small film production company, so I am admittedly somewhat biased. But I do think that (1) quality content is key and that (2) video production is a relatively easy way to create impactful quality content optimized for online consumption. This can take the form of video marketing, as Luis suggests, but the same rule applies here, as it does with respect to written content: consistently create quality content and people will (eventually) come to your site.luis23045 wrote:I believe in content but if you really want traffic fast, you will need to learn VIDEO MARKETING.
Promoting your content by using video, will give you more exposure. That's one of my strategies I personally use with great success on my blog.
Best of luck!

Re: How to increase website traffic ?
What do you want to achieve from visits?
If you are wanting to convert visits to sales for instance it is better to have just 10 visitors per day if 8 convert, rather than driving hundreds of people to a site which isn't relevant and getting just 5 conversions.

Re: How to increase website traffic ?
To get that many visitors each day you could write an article each day then spread it around to social networks (StumbleUpon is great for traffic), then write a short 200-300 blurb about the content one sites like [spam] or [spam]. It will take a consistent effort. Traffic is tricky, sometimes you get a little for a while, then it just starts to flood in with consistent effort. But you have to do something every single day to get the traffic you want. Rinse and repeat.

Re: How to increase website traffic ?
These are all great tips. What about a website for a service based business serving a local area. I am working on the backlinking and my local citations. Do I need to write articles as well or just add stuff to my site regularly. I know it takes time, just looking for tips from people that know more about it than me. I am a newbie...

Backlinks are the best way to increase traffic to site. Quality backlinks also increase the search position which ultimately increases traffic to the site.

social bookmarking is the best way for getting traffic to blog/site. Back links also play vital role. with these two you can rank better in search engine and drive traffic.

Re: How to increase website traffic ?
of course a lot pf people will just sign up to as many forums as they can, then keep trying to add signatures while posting one liners and some copy and paste from other related forums. then bam, as soon as they can they put their signature in and leave the forum.
who needs decent content or hardwork when your a "professional" balck hat seo warrior?
they rely on decent high volume forums, forum admins who dont know how to set user profiles to be read by members only (not bots) and have low signature allowance settings.

Make use of a lot of social media outlets to generate as much linkbacks as possible. Create interesting topics that would keep your demographic coming back for more. Give them a reason to visit your site every day. You could also do daily updates so your audience would have something to look forward to every day.

Content is very important as the search engines will set up for relevant words and phrases. Pay per click can help as well but it is expensive.

Re: How to increase website traffic ?
The best way to get people visit you site is by letting them know that there's something interesting on your site. So, you just have to show it to them, I'll tell you a good trick, try to submit your site to bing site, and forget about google. It's less competition in there and you can have your site on the top result of your keyword, and get visitors to your pages.dilantha2 wrote:I want about 100 visitors per day for my website, what should I do? Mostly all of the things have been discussed however, one of the most important places for another good source of traffic are forums as rightly discussed by @mandville.You can always use forums also to get traffic to your site. However, make sure you read all the posts before commenting and then put your views, use the forum to get good authority, not abuse them - as rightly pointed out by @mandville.mandville wrote:of course a lot pf people will just sign up to as many forums as they can, then keep trying to add signatures while posting one liners and some copy and paste from other related forums. then bam, as soon as they can they put their signature in and leave the forum.

Re: How to increase website traffic ?
This is true, but it totally depends what he/she wants. Social Networks are really good to get instant traffic but you need to keep them engaged. Tho the social signals also helps with ranking.andrewbenjee wrote:Good content, with good social networking/community is the key to high traffic
But for autopilot traffic it's better to do proper on-page and off-page SEO, which is a lot harder to accomplish (depends on niche and keywords of course). But it will bring in traffic for years to come if done correctly.

Interesting content is the main force behind traffic, other than that you can promote through various social networks, which is useful because it's free and interactive.

Try to advertise your page on social media, Google loves Twitter, Facebook etc. You could also try to get some backlinks for your website. Either by using tools or manually submitting your links to comment sections.
