Adding SSL cert to domain link without control of host

Post by rusty1001 » Wed May 02, 2018 3:11 am

Hi I have been asked to add SSL to a website,

like abc.site etc

no issues but

they have xyz. abc. site (not the web address)

the problem is that the link is just IP address used to a cloaked service (A record change) – used to sell a 3rd parties product related to the business and they get the difference in price.

Before I buy xyz.abc.site SSL cert – I was wondering what would be the issues ... there are no phyiscal files (So I could do the folder option to verify, but I guess could use email) ,

xyz.abc.site is 123.45.098.xxx
abc.site is 655.2827.827.xxx (made up)

Is see issues, any help would be appreciated. If I add xyz.abc.site for SSL to current Cpanel in zone editor it is not same IP so I dont think it would recognise that anyway..

Setting A records to IP is how the " sub domain " is how it being directed , not iframed or http redirect.

The only solution I see is wildcard SSL but they dont want to pay $550.00 , around that mark when single is one tenth. Rather get 2 certs.. Is possible to get cert for Ip address etc etc
A winner never complains about conditions

two easy ways... letscenrypt... or get a cheaper wildcard cert ;) ... I do have one for EUR 75 ( ~ USD80) excl. VAT.

It is a commodo possitive SSL cert....
