How many pages are required for a newly built website?
Hello everybody,
I am new to website building and I have heard that there are few mandatory pages for every website like homepage, privacy policy and other pages. Can anyone tell me which other pages are mandatory and how to place content on them.
Thank you in advance

The answer depends on what you want to do with your website.
If your website is simply going to be a "signpost" (for example, "Our business is located at <address> and we are open between 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday-Sunday") the you only need one page.
If your website is going to interact with visitors who need to login to "do" something, then (while it is not legally mandatory) you should have a privacy policy and a terms-of-use page. This page, or pages, will tell your users what they can expect when they register to join your site.
Apart from that, there's no mandatory minimum number of pages. Obviously you will need a page to tell your visitors something about your website.
The easiest way to create web content for your website in Joomla! is to create articles. I suggest that you go to https://docs.joomla.org/Portal:Beginners for more information. Good luck.

It all depends on the law in your country. Or on the law of the country of your target audience.wasimnaqvi wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2019 6:13 pmI have heard that there are few mandatory pages for every website like homepage, privacy policy and other pages. In Germany it's required by law to have an "Impressum" (in English "colophon") page:
a page with information about the authorship & ownership of the website.
Maybe a local lawyer or the chamber of commerce nearby might be able to inform you about mandatory pages for your website in your country.

Some website even have only 1 page as the landing page if you don't have a lot of content.
It really doesn't matter.
You'd want to have a few optimized and really quality pages than a lot of thin content pages.

well, there are no hard rules about it. But you should consider adding the Privacy Policy page and also the disclaimer page if you are sharing any kind of resources from the third party. And for rest of the site focus on quality and not quantity.

There's no 1 single rule on it.
But as a minimum no matter the country personally I always add 4 pages.
Homepage, About, Privacy, Contact
(Can include the T&C separate or on the privacy page)

The minimum number of pages you need is one, as infinite scroll can be used to display a lot of information.
If you do take this route, follow Google's reccommendation at https://webmasters.googleblog.com/2014/ ... endly.html to ensure the site is indexed as separate sections rather than one big page.

It just depends on what exactly your website does. Depending on the website, a privacy policy and terms of service may or may not be needed.

I also do this as well. All 4 of these pages are very important but what I think is most overlooked is the About page. I think it's SUPER important to have an About page because it adds authenticity to your website. Don't overlook this page.
As far as other pages for your website, I generally try to have about 30ish good written articles within the first couple of months to help my SEO rankings with google.
Of course it does all depend on the type of website you have though.

One of the best methods is to go to your competitors or similiar websites and see what pages they have. That would give you a hint.
As others pointed out, country, privacy, cookies, GDPR, and your local regulations all matter.
Personally I think hiring lawyers and stuff seems too drastic if you are not a large company already launching a website.

I don't think there is a 'minimum' as such (from a Google point of view) but a good start point would be: Home, About and Contact (if you are feeling cautious you could always add a Privacy or T&C's page too) - with those pages you can pretty much cover all bases.

I would say about 3-5 is a good starting point. 3 for home/blog/about me for a small blog. 5 for if you want to add in services and a contact me.
