Update SSL Certificate?

Post by ACCS_Barry » Thu Apr 15, 2021 3:39 am

Have just taken over support for Joomla with little background knowledge!
Have been requested to update the SSL certificate as old one has expired.
All settings show SSL is active but since expired it's not working.
How do I update the SSL certificate in the system (I already have a new certificate ready to go)?

Welcome to the forum!

The update method depends on the web server and it does not involve Joomla at all. The vendor of the SSL certificate usually includes instructions for different servers or you can find the instructions from their website.

If you do not have full accesd to the web server, ask your host to do the update.

Adding: you have several options:

you can either (1) install "lets encrypt" or (2) your host may re-sell SSL certificates from a third party supplier and can install them for you, or (3) you can buy the certificate from the third party supplier and install it on your hosting (or your host may assist if you provide them the files).
