repeated htaccess login prompt where details already entered correctly. Topic is solved

Hi,

Posting in "The Lounge" as this doesn't fit the other joomla forums.....

I have joomla sites that have the /administrator folder protected by htaccess (set up through Akeeba Tools).

Once I enter the details (but don't actually log into the joomla sites themselves) after a while, I get a repeated prompt to enter the htaccess details (even though it was done correctly the first time)

I have not closed the browser or tabs (which I thought was the only way to end a "session" with the htaccess folder protection.). This happens on at least two sites where I'm using the htaccess folder protection.

My host is SiteGround, I don't know if its something unique to them but I can't find anything on the 'net about "repeated login prompt" using htaccess. I am using a password manager (Roboform) but I wouldn't think that would affect anything.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Which browser do you use? Could you try it with different browsers? And on different computers?

Thanks for the suggestions. I wish I could select both responses as answers....but forum won't let me.

My browser primarily is Firefox.

The sites doing this repeat login are sub-domains - one is a development site, the other for testing J3.10.

I will investigate further with the htaccess issue in the root folder.
