Lets Encrypt No Longer Works on Older Android Versions

Post by Bikerdave » Tue Oct 05, 2021 12:40 pm

It would appear that from 1st October this year that the recent upgrade of Lets Encrypt will not work on devices that use older Android versions. This means that all websites that use Lets Encrypt and are viewed using older Android versions will show the "This Site Is Unsafe Message" to users.

I realise that software moves on but there must be millions of devices still using older Android

Until now I have used the free Lets Encrypt provided by my Web Host but because of this situation I am looking for alternatives Paid or Free.

I have a small number of sites that I host through a WHM Reseller package, is there a system/provider/certification I can use instead of Lets Encrypt?

Thanks

David

Hi Thanks for that link. I have seen it but my Web Host told me "Unfortunately, there are no further changes we can make on our shared fleet which will allow this to work correctly, you can use the firefox browser on the older android devices to get around this."

This sounds very strange to me.
