Running Joomla on Docker

Post by quazar987 » Wed Feb 23, 2022 6:40 am

Does anyone runs Joomla in docker containers? Is there any downside to running inside docker containers? We are looking at using running dynamic scaling using docker..

Yes, but I only use docker (and docker composer) for Joomla development and not for production websites. Using docker makes it easier to switch to other PHP versions. etc.

The downside of running website(s) in docker containers is the increased complexity. Like the communication among the different containers, and when starting up booting the containers in the right order.

And when you shut down your containers, the data in a database is lost, so you'll need to find a way to make the data storage persistent.
