Promoting a New Joomla! User Group

Post by herb200mph » Tue Aug 23, 2022 8:02 pm

We have organized a virtual Joomla! User Group - which the powers-to-be encourage everyone anywhere to do. Create a User Group.

Now here's the rub.

There is no place within the online Joomla! community to promote the newly formed group.

The Magazine won't allow a single-group article, but would publish something generic.

I find it absolutely astonishing that we get encouraged to create a JUG, but then all the doors as shut tight on the Joomla.org website - which should be helping us promote our JUGs to get more enthusiasm cranking.

Anybody got any ideas.

We did create a page on Facebook, but I find it appalling for a JUG to rely on FB for anything.

FYI. southeastusajug.org

Here is a map of JUGs: https://community.joomla.org/user-groups.html

You seem to be on it!

True, our group is listed, but that is the absolute extent of the exposure that can be obtained.

Then, the map pin location is wrong and we have written Todd, the leader of things to get it changed.

No response.

It seems that there is an inherent "brick will" erected that does not allow individual groups to gain exposure to members via any organization mechanisms.
