Dr. Joe,

Thanks for volunteering to translate Joomla! to Swahili. As there are 2 predominant versions of Joomla! at present (Joomla! 1.5 and Joomla! 1.7), which version of Joomla! are you planning to translate?

Based on this information, we could provide more guidance about what would be the next steps.

Just curious to know whether you would be be using Latin alphabets or Arabic alphabets.

I would like to translate the two versions if that is possible. I am using Latin Alphabets Swahili is written in Latin Alphabet though it has an Arab origin. I would appreciate further guidance

At this stage, as 1.5 will reach end of life in a few months, I rather suggest you do 1.7.

Please see:
http://docs.joomla.org/Making_a_Languag ... Joomla_1.6

First install Joomla 1.7.1 locally.
Then install this component to start translating:
http://joomlacode.org/gf/download/frsre ... .7.1.0.zip

I suggest you first do the site part.

The tag for Swahili is sw-KE

Do not hesitate to contact me by mail/pm for any help.
