Database Collation problem

Post by richfever » Fri Oct 12, 2012 8:18 am

Hi,

Our website was running fine with English and other European languages. However, when we want to add more language, including Chinese, the article manager turn all Chinese content into ???.

We know that the mysql db collation set was set to "latin-swedish_ci", so we change it to "utf8_general_ci" with some PHP script and confirmed the db collation was updated when we checked at the mysql command line. However, when we try to work on Joomla again, the problem remains and the system info still telling the db collation was in "latin_swedish_ci". What have I missed? I've been trying for days but no success. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Suggest reviewing the collation sequence of tables and the columns.
