Problem with tcpdf, images and non-latin language

Postby Souls33k » Wed Oct 17, 2012 2:25 pm

Greetings,
I have a 1.5.26 installation in which the generated pdf from an article has the following problem:
tcpdf-pr.jpg

As you can see in the picture, the whole paragraph is "sandwiched" in a row below the picture. The "interesting" thing is that this happens at the last 2-3 pages of a pdf and not after every picture in the article.
The language is greek.

I've tried to install and use some 3rd party components for pdf generation from articles (without success), I also tried to upgrade the version of tcpdf (also without success) and I'm desperate for a solution.
Has anyone dealt with this problem and/or has any solution?

My PHP version is 5.3.14, in case it's relevant.

Hi, try to use Phoca PDF - it uses tcpdf with utf-8 support:
http://www.phoca.cz/phocapdf

The problem of non latin characters can be related to the used font (which maybe does not include them) in such case specific font needs to be created:
http://www.phoca.cz/documents/49-phoca- ... -component

Jut try, maybe this can help you.

Hi,
Phoca PDF doesn't seem to be working on live site, while on the same site on localhost the generated PDF appears to be displaying only numbers and not characters (which is obviously worse than displaying part of the article).
I think I have tried everything, with no results whatsoever... :(

Hi, if only numbers are displayed, check if the font does support your language characters?

I just started using TCPDF (output with HTML), and I do not understand why I can not have an inline CSS style for border like the following,

Code: Select all

style="border-right: 1px"

After looking at some of the examples, the only place I see borders being used is on a table using the border="1" property. This is very frustrating, and I hope there is a way for me to use all inline CSS instead of old HTML attributes like "border".

Thanks for any help
Joomla! is a extremely customizable

Hi, yes, in TCPDF the border CSS attribute is not working, instead of it, the border="1" for tables is working. I am not developer of TCPDF so cannot say why this works as it works but I think, there is a reason for such behaviour - PDF document is not like HTML (the most difference is, PDF documents have fixed sizes, HTML is dynamic) so there will be never work all the HTML features :-( :-(

Now that I notice (after almost a year :p ), this happens in every Joomla 1.5.26 installation, not only in one of them. So this seems to be a general TCPDF error on Joomla 1.5.
Generated PDF appears fine in general (no font, encoding or any other issues) until its' last pages, where if there is an image, the following paragraphs crouch underneath it (see picture in first post).
