How to add new entity in FILTER option?

Hello Everyone,
I would like to add an additional Filter option.How is it done?
For example: At present i have 1)TITLE FILTER
2)AUTHOR FILTER
3)HITS FILTER
I want to add one more in the list.Which are the files to be modified and what is the path? Can someone help me ?
