Welcome! And where to find information!

We're so happy you are here!

Before choosing a task, make sure that you are familiar with the Contest Rules. Please also read the contest Frequently Asked Questions. You can find all of these details and more on the Google Highly Open Participation Contest Page.

Further Information for Student Contestants

We have some useful documents in the Wiki http://code.google.com/p/google-highly- ... mla/w/list

Getting Help

These pages will be the most useful for you as a newly arrived contributor:

    * http://JoomlaCode.org: This is where you can get the Joomla! source, including access to subversion or nightly builds, and see how Joomla! projects are done.
    * http://Dev.Joomla.org: This is the place for Joomla! developers to get information.
    * http://Help.Joomla.org: This is the general help site that includes manuals, other documentation, and FAQs.
    * Joomla! Forums: The Joomla! forums have a lot of information about any issue related to Joomla! Searching the forums will provide answers to many questions, and of course you can post questions yourself. There is also a forum specifically dedicated to this project.

You should definitely register at the Joomla! forums and you might want to register at Joomla! code (if you elected to complete a coding task.)

We really want to encourage you to use the same channels as all of our community participants, which is mainly through the forums on the joomla.org site. These forums have lots of people who are willing to answer questions, critique your work or generally be helpful.

Getting More Help

If you have signed up to complete a particular task and you have some questions about how best to complete it, first see if the task description has specific instructions about whom to contact for assistance. If there are no specific instructions in the task, these resources should be helpful to you:

By Chat

Representatives from the Joomla! project will be hanging out in #joomlaghop on irc.freenode.net to answer any questions you may have. If they don't know the answer, they will be happy to point you in the right direction.
By Discussion Forum

You can ask questions on a discussion forum that we have set up especially for this contest. The contest mentors will be reading the forum and other members of the community will be available to help too. The forums are where most of the community get together to help each other and are a great source of useful information. Feel free to ask for help in any Joomla.org forum.

By Email

You can always ask questions on our contest mailing list, joomla-ghop at googlegroups.com. Please let us know where you've looked for the answer so we can note for the future areas where our documentation can be strengthened.

Parents, this is the best way to get in contact with us if you have questions or concerns.

If you have asked your question on the mailing list but find you need a more granular answer, one of the program administrators will introduce you to the right person.
Other Questions

If you have a question not answered here that is related to contest mechanics, your best bet is to check out Google's program page for more details. You can also contact Google's program administrators for help by emailing them at example at google dot com.

If you have a question not answered here that is related to a particular task or about the Joomla! project in general, please contact Joomla! organization administrators for more details.
