[Feature Request] Remove white space on front page

Post by grisdale » Tue Feb 10, 2009 9:15 pm

The following applies to the Joomla standard menu, Menu Item, Front Page Blog Layout, Basic Parameters, Links.

The standard menu (Front Page Blog Layout) has an option to display "Intro" articles in more than one column. There is no option to change the number of columns for "Links". "Links" are always displayed in one column, to the left of the page.

One problem I have with some aspects of Joomla is the amount of white space that is sometimes left on the page, especially if I have the "Links setting at four or more, and "Intro" is set to more than one.

Removing the white space could be accomplished by:
- adding an option to display "Links" in more than one column; or
- using the same number of columns to display "Links" as you do to display "Intro".

The second solution would be preferred, as there would be no change to the layout of the menu setup screen, it would be a matter of using the existing "Columns" field, and applying that to the number of "Links".

Thanks for reading.

Does anyone know where to hack the code (even if it is hard coded) to make the number of links into 2 or three columns?

filename would be helpful...

Peace & Joy,

components\com_content\views\frontpage\tmpl\default.php

To make a proper template output override copy the file to templates\<your template name>\html\com_content\frontpage

Then modify the copy. Remember to substitute <your template name> with your real template name.
