First time using Joomla and it's based on a RocketTheme template, so not particularly creative of me, but the week or so of fiddling with the back end and customising it should count for something eh?
Advice/opinions welcome, as ever.

Not uncommon to use a template for your first time out. Joomla is a learning process and over time you will be able to create even better templates yourself if you take the time to learn. I like RT templates visually but they are a bit bloated IMHO.
Content looks good so far. Background is a bit busy and text can be a bit difficult to read sometimes.
I think the showcase slide show should only be on the front page instead of every page though.
Your forum still has the template name and there are no links to get back home.

If you haven't figured it out yet I like to BOLD all my links.

Are you going to add the music to the website as well? That would be awesome!

Cheers, I've bookmarked them for a look later on. The more I see it the more I agree that the template isn't ideal, beyond the fact that it's quite pretty, but it always seems like a herculean task to start customising and fiddling all over again. Currently I'm thinking that in 3-4 months or so I'll make a big change, need to sort out the content side properly first though.hb7of10 wrote:check out the yootheme template's they are also very professional but less bloated. which makes them load faster. which will also effect you SOE rankings
Would love to and have certainly had ideas about doing so, it's only the technical side that really holds me back on that side of things, higher bandwidth usage, some kind of moderation system, widgets and gadgets to make the whole user submission system more workable. After ten minutes I tend to just get a headache over the whole thing.tuber1981 wrote:Are you going to add the music to the website as well? That would be awesome!

When I hover over FAQ the menu goes to the side and off the screen.
Looks good though.

Mhm, I've noticed that at times, but it seems to be a rarity that's limited to some computers. I did think it was just some resolutions screwing it up but that doesn't seem to be the case from what I've seen. I'll have to put it on my list of jobs to be jobbed.v2interactive wrote:When I hover over FAQ the menu goes to the side and off the screen.

Not too bad for a beginner. You should make your top image fill your site header.
