A happy marriage is a matter of give and take; the husband gives and the wife takes.

Tell a man there are 300 billion stars in the universe and he'll believe you. Tell him a bench has wet paint on it and he'll have to touch it to be sure.

Dyslexic devil worshippers sell their souls to Santa!

A straw poll only shows which way the hot air blows.

Sometimes I think we're alone in the universe, and sometimes I think we're not. In either case the idea is quite staggering. - Arthur C. Clarke

Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak

In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time someting like that happened in politics or religion. -- Carl Sagan

Prejudice is one of the most stupid things on earth because there are so many perfectly good reasons to dislike people on an individual basis - The Philosophers Song -Monty Python

There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. - Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged in: The Decline and Fall of the Athenian Republic

Veni, Vedi, Veci -- I came, I saw, I conguered -- Julius Caesar -- he'd conguered the known Euro world.
Alea jacta est -- Caesar -- the Die is Cast, when the Roman Senate told him not to cross the Rubicon, he did it anyway. The rest is history.

Was mich nicht umbringt macht mich starker -- What doesn't kill me makes me stronger -- Friedrich Nietzsche
Gott is tot -- God is dead -- Nietzsche @ http://www.kirjasto.sci.fi/nietzsch.htm

I like the "What Doesn't Kill Me, Makes Me Stronger".

I use that -- both in German and English -- as my Signature line in several Forums.

So, to kick off, I like this one from rcarver: "There are 10 types of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't."

Here are some of my favorite quotes...

:)Karate is a form of martial arts in which people who have had years and years of training can, using only their hands and feet, make some of the worst movies in the history of the world.

:)As long as my boss pretends that I'm earning much, I'm pretending that I work hard
