Multilingual

Post by AlexEvt » Fri Mar 21, 2008 12:13 am

Hi Folks!

My name is Alex and i want to participate in GSoC as a student.
As a project idea a planned to offer core multilingual support, but i see that it's in the official project ideas list. Great!
Joomla is a worldwide famous CMS and I think that it is very important to have such ability in the core package, not in the thirdparty plugins (JoomFish, etc.)
Maybe that's all, not easy but very needed!;)

I think this is a very important idea... although not something I personally use, I know there is definitely demand for this and I know that we have some of our mentors who have put thought towards this as well. Looking forward to seeing your fleshed out proposal!

You may also consider using geocoding (tell the geographical location of the user) to propose the site in the user's language for example.
Such a system can of course be put along with rules set by the administrator to select a language.

Thanks for your replies guys!
Yes, Geocoding is a very useful addition too. But it is not the main task.
I'm preparing application for this project.
