Idea: Enhanced Categorization

Hi everybody,
this idea is about enhancing the section/category strucutre of Joomla-content. My idea is to provide the capability of asigning multiple categories to one item. Meaning that one item may be in more than one section/category. Extending the search function could then allow for refining the search using multiple categories and subcategories like on amazon for example

To elaborate a little bit on the idea:

Similar categorization does currently exist in Joomla extensions. However, none would handle effective large multimedia collections, especially when metadata is scarce. The idea is to maximally utilize user collaboration in categorization. Users will be able not only to categorize items within the collection by to modify existing categories. As a result a structure can evolve which is easy to navigate and to find items without having to memorize keywords.

Here is another problem with such classification and a possible solution:

Letting users define the categories can potentially bring things out of hand with a multitude of categories which differ only slightly in their scope. Therefore, the system can look into existing tags of items (provided by users) and suggest possible categorizations. This way a user can recognize a relevant category before going on and creating a redundant one.
