Flash Logo in place of Logo image

Post by cemmac » Mon Oct 27, 2008 4:38 pm

Hi All,

I tried searching for an answer to this issue for a while and then tried to figure it out myself, if some-one else has already given an answer then sorry, I could not find it :-[
This works for me.................... :D

Go to the template.css in the css folder of your templates and modify the code below to suit what you have......marked in blue

#ja-headerwrap {
background: #990000;
color: #990000;
line-height: normal;
height: 160px;
}

#ja-header {
position: relative;
height: 160px;
width: 610px;
}

.ja-headermask {
width: 602px;
display: block;
background: url(../images/header-mask.png) no-repeat top right;
height: 160px;
position: absolute;
top: 0;
right: -1px;
}

#ja-header a {
color: #990000;
}

h1.logo, h1.logo-text {
margin: 0 0 0 5px;
padding: 0;
font-size: 180%;
text-transform: uppercase;
}

/* Trying to insert flash instead of image ../images/logo.png*/
h1.logo a {
width: 610px;
display: block;
background: url(../images/flash/cem1.swf) no-repeat;
height: 160px;
position: relative;
z-index: 100;
}
Now go to your Index.php file within your template and add/replace the code as below to suit your needs within the code..............
<?php
$siteName = $tmpTools->sitename();
if ($tmpTools->getParam('logoType')=='image') { ?>
<h1 class="logo">
<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shoc ... n=6,0,40,0" width="650" height="160" align="left"><param name="width" value="650" /><param name="height" value="160" /><param name="align" value="left" /><param name="src" value="images/flash/cem1.swf" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="650" height="160" align="left" src="images/flash/cem1.swf"></embed></object>
</h1>
<?php } else {
$logoText = (trim($tmpTools->getParam('logoText'))=='') ? $config->sitename : $tmpTools->getParam('logoText');
$sloganText = (trim($tmpTools->getParam('sloganText'))=='') ? JText::_('SITE SLOGAN') : $tmpTools->getParam('sloganText'); ?>

The orginal code was as follows

<!-- BEGIN: logo change on line 139 -->
<?php
$siteName = $tmpTools->sitename();
if ($tmpTools->getParam('logoType')=='image') { ?>
<h1 class="logo">
<a href="index.php" title="<?php echo $siteName; ?>"><span><?php echo $siteName; ?></span></a>
</h1>
<?php } else {
$logoText = (trim($tmpTools->getParam('logoText'))=='') ? $config->sitename : $tmpTools->getParam('logoText');
$sloganText = (trim($tmpTools->getParam('sloganText'))=='') ? JText::_('SITE SLOGAN') : $tmpTools->getParam('sloganText'); ?>
<h1 class="logo-text">
<a href="index.php" title="<?php echo $siteName; ?>"><span><?php echo $logoText; ?></span></a>
</h1>
<p class="site-slogan"><?php echo $sloganText;?></p>
<?php } ?>

Save the files and test................

You will need to change the names and file ext..... to suit what you have.

This work around works for me and I hope that I have not upset anyone by doing this.

Hope that this helps some people out there like me.........

A little tip for your code for the SWF file.
Create a test article and insert your file onto the page by using the editor and then go to the HTML view to copy the source code.

Be sure to use the TINYMCE 2.0 editor or any other that allows you to insert media files.

Best of luck

Mac

Thanks cemmac for your reply. Yes, I was looking at exactly that.
I followed your instructions from above and it worked well. I was doing some silly mistakes in the middle and also the shockware didn't work but I used flash instead to show the swf file.
