Failed Backup Joomlapack 2.3.3

Post by gb623 » Wed Feb 19, 2014 3:12 am

Running Joomla 1.5.23 on GoDaddy IIS/7.0 server. Tried backup using Joomlapack 2.3.3 and recieved Error msg.
dbdumperror.jpg
Also, Joomlapack states that "Default output directory in use". Trying to get a recent backup (only one I have is from 9-27-10) so I can try to upgrade Joomla software to highest possible, then migrate to 3.0 or maybe just 2.5.
Called GoDaddy but only info gained was ability to backup Database from hosting control panel. Have downloaded both the 9-27-10 backup and the recent Database backup to my computer. Understand that Database backup is not the same as DB & files backup. Don't know how to copy files separately so they would mesh with database backup anyway. Still reading up.
Would it be worth downloading and installing Akeeba Backup 3.4.3-core ? Would it run on Joomla 1.5.23 and is there chance of install affecting present site before I get a good backup?

Thanks for any help.

Akeeba Backup 3.4.3 is the last version that works in Joomla 1.5.
It creates a backup of your files/folders + database.

If it does not work, you can always download all files + folders using FTP,
and phpMyAdmin to create an SQL dump of your Joomla database.

If you want to migrate to Joomla 2.5 or 3.2, I would do it locally first:
create a local webenvironment (eg with XAMPP) and install your current Joomla 1.5.
Install Joomla 3.2 in a separate directory.
And I would than use JUpgrade or (paid) SPUpgrade to update Joomla 1.5 to 2.5/3.2.
When it's ready I would backup the local site with Akeeba and restore it on the server.

Unable to find install package

Also tried extracting file and using Install from Directory and got reply:
Unable to find install package

Tried uploading extracted file to server and using Install from Directory and got reply:

Okay, You are saying I'm wasting my time trying to upgrade my backup extension. To
download all files + folders using FTP,and phpMyAdmin to create an SQL dump of my Joomla database. (Not that I understand how to do that yet - still reading)But...

My phpMyAdmin is ver. 3.2.0.1 with a 2MB limit to import data. Found that out when I tried to load my last good backup of my website(184mb) onto my Localhost. So... I downloaded a newer version of phpMyAdmin.7zip into a temporary directory and understand that I have to unzip file and insert a copy of my present config.inc.php file into the directory with it. And other steps I'm leaving out right now..

I went to download 7zip to extract file and accepting terms says I will endup with addons I don't want. Still contemplating that. Is there better way?

I know this is out of sequence, but, I'll have to upgrade my PHP ver.5.2.17 at some point too. To make this all work, right? Sorry so slow getting all this. Site is non-money-making ,dedicated to my dads' WWII outfit. Set it up 5 yrs ago and haven't upgraded original software, obviously... Appreciate all help.
